Hooge Crater Cemetery

The town of Hooge is just outside Ypres and as it was on another high point was attacked many times by the British. It is famous for a large mine that was exploded under the German trenches in July 1915 and for the first attack using flame throwers (by the Germans) also in July 1915.

This is the view from the top of Hill 62 looking towards Ypres town. The Germans held this position for most of the war and therefore had an unobstructed view of the town.
